: RIP (rasterised image processor)
ECRM's RIP is a Harlequin Classic V6.2 PostScript® Language Level 3 specification, has complete input and output mechanisms, as well as a comprehensive Graphical User Interface which offers an exemplary level of RIP performance.
Portable Document Format (PDF)
The RIP is fully compatible with applications that generate PDF 1.4 files without converting them to PostScript®, by supporting the following:
- Transparency
- Referenced PDF
- JBIG2
- PDF/X-1a:2001
- PDF/X-3:2002
These PDF/X standards are subsets of PDF focused specifically for the graphic arts market. By supporting these standards the Harlequin RIP greatly increases the likelihood that a file will run through a prepress workflow without error, and that the digital proof will closely match the final printed piece.
Extra gray levels
Prints more than 4,000 shades of gray for maximum quality at almost any resolution.
In-RIP trapping
This object-based raster engine delivers outstanding performance and excellent memory utilisation. TrapPro is designed to trap jobs automatically, and can easily be set up to accommodate different types of jobs or customers.
- Special ink handling - metallic (opaque) and varnish (transparent)
- Shaded fill (radial & axial) support
- Full n-color support for CMYK and spot colors.
- Protects small text and graphic elements.
- Intelligently compares object and trap requirements and adjusts the traps to be proportional to the original object.
- Prevents artifacts such as "mushroom" trap ends
- Auto-chokes superblacks by default, ensuring that superblack objects maintain a sharp, crisp edge.
- Trap color density reduction to produce less visible traps between abutting colors.
- Recognises trap zones generated by PostScript® Language Level 3-compatible applications and evaluates only the defined trap zones for trapping.
