: Pre-press
Pre-press is the business of facilitating design files for our offset printing presses. Calders utilise the latest technology available to confidently process its internal designs and client-supplied designs to the plate stage.
: PDF Workflow
Calders design and pre-press workflow is predominately PDF with some postscript to the digital printers. Designers generate PDF files from their workstations to firstly check the files before further processing. This eliminates 99% of human error due to size, orientation, bleed etc.
: Supplying Files
Calders encourage customers to supply PDF files for printing to digital and offset presses. Provided that the PDF files are correctly produced, most problems that normally occur with native program files are eliminated. Nevertheless, all supplied PDF files undergo a rigorous preflight through Enfocus Pitstop Professional®, the world's leading PDF editing program.
Calders has a comprehensive range of software for Macintosh and Windows platforms and can accept native program files from programmes such as QuarkXpress™ 6.0 (Mac & Win), Pagemaker 7.0 (Mac & Win), InDesign 2.0 (Mac & Win), Freehand 11.0 (Mac & Win), Illustrator 10.0 (Mac & Win), Photoshop CS (Mac & Win), Coreldraw 11.0 (Win), Office 2003 (Mac & Win), plus many other minor programs too numerous to mention.
: Digital Proofing
All colour offset printing is digitally proofed prior to plate imaging. These digital proofs are generated from the same RIPPED files that image the plates (ROOM) via Absolute Proof® and output on the Epson Stylus Pro 7600 inkjet printer.
Absolute Proof® is calibrated to the Company's MOFPH (five colour) offset press and produces dot for dot digital proofs that truly represent the final printed piece.
AbsoluteProof's core technology is its unique Intelligent Multicolor Engine® which simulates Pantone colors, CMYK colors, duotones and Hexachrome HiFi, matched to ICC press profiles.
: Imposition
Preps® Pro is the premier imposition solution which anchors our workflow in the midst of the daily production challenges. It is an all-in-one imposition tool that handles the unique requirements of our commercial as well as on-demand printing.
Unmatched input flexibility
Preps Pro is at the cutting edge of our PDF workflow integration. Preps Pro accepts file formats from more than 120 popular desktop applications. It will mix and match any combination of PostScript®, PDF, EPS, DCS, TIFF, and Delta™ List files within a single job.
Seamless PDF workflow
Preps Pro automatically accepts all incoming PDF files without first converting them to PostScript, saving time and disk space. The PDF files are sent to the RIP for Proof Printing or Plate Imaging and are finally archived for repeat jobs.
Unrivaled workflow tool
Preps Pro has a built-in Open Prepress Interface (OPI) engine to find missing images and preserve TIFFs that were colourised in QuarkXPress®. It can merge pre-separated Desktop Color Separation (DCS) files into the final output stream.
Creep is calculated accurately for each of these sections and signature collation marks are placed in the right location for each binding section.
